It was in August 1991 when The Pear Tree Creperie first switched
on the griddles to bring a taste of Brittany to Staffordshire. Parisian
born Maithé Headlam and her daughter Giselle are pioneers
of this unique restaurant and it is their conviviality and energy
which bring such a pleasant "ambiance" to the Creperie today. An
"ambiance" which is consolidated by the friendly staff dressed "à
la mode francaise."
If dining "en plein air" conjures up scenes of long, lingering
lunches and interminable discussions, then you can enjoy your meals
in The Pear Tree Creperie Courtyard. "I've always enjoyed the
creative side of cooking, but I hate formality in food. So, I wanted
to create an atmosphere where people could escape and enjoy food
that was a little different." Maithé Headlam, Restauratrice
The Creperie is an ideal venue for the locals to entertain clients,
enjoy family occasions and take refuge for Sunday brunch. It also
serves as a relaxing Continental style café for visitors to
the Heart of the Country Village. If you are visiting the Village,
then lunch or an evening at The Pear Tree Creperie is an absolute
must!
"The evenings are nice here - people have been known to dance,
especially when we've had our accordion player in. We've even had
some customers who came dressed as characters out of 'Allo 'Allo
- complete with berets. strings of onions and outrageous French
accents - it was hilarious." Maithé Headlam, Restauratrice
