A little touch of France

As lovers of all things French (especially their food) it is a bit of a surprise that in all of the years it has been open we had never been to the Pear Tree creperie despite it being on our doorstep. However, having ventured in we have now been three times in as many months and are planning a return.
We originally popped in for a coffee one Sunday afternoon and I guess when you add the typical cost of a crepe the overall price does seem high when compared to a “cake & a coffee” at your more typical cafes. However, this place really comes into its own if you go for the dining experience. We were attracted by one of the monthly fixed price set meals offering three courses for just under £12. This is exceptional value and I challenge anyone to find better.
The quality of the food is great. You start with a hot bowl of onion soup brimming with onion and a large cheesy crouton. You then follow this with a savoury gallette with side salad and finally a sweet lemon & sugar crepe, all of which is as good as you would get in any Breton creperie. Add a bottle of wine & a soft drink and you are not much over £40 for two people and you don’t leave hungry.
Overall, the Pear Tree offers an authentic French experience and exceptional value for money and is now a regular haunt for us.
