A little touch of France

As lovers of all things French (especially their food) it is a bit of a surprise that in all of the years it has been open we had never been to the Pear Tree creperie despite it being on our doorstep. However, having ventured in we have now been three times in as many months and are planning a return.
We originally popped in for a coffee one Sunday afternoon and I guess when you add the typical cost of a crepe the overall price does seem high when compared to a “cake & a coffee” at your more typical cafes. However, this place really comes into its own if you go for the dining experience. We were attracted by one of the monthly fixed price set meals offering three courses for just under £12. This is exceptional value and I challenge anyone to find better.
The quality of the food is great. You start with a hot bowl of onion soup brimming with onion and a large cheesy crouton. You then follow this with a savoury gallette with side salad and finally a sweet lemon & sugar crepe, all of which is as good as you would get in any Breton creperie. Add a bottle of wine & a soft drink and you are not much over £40 for two people and you don’t leave hungry.
Overall, the Pear Tree offers an authentic French experience and exceptional value for money and is now a regular haunt for us.

Consistently fabulous

Have been coming to the pear tree for about 10 years now and I don’t know why I haven’t written a review before now – I suppose it’s because they are just so good at what they do we expect and receive nothing less than excellence from them. Bravo!
Firstly the setting is just so quirky and unique and just so classy without trying that you cannot fail to be wowed by the ambience and experience.
They follow a simple principal keep it simple and do what you do well. The quality of food served is consistent, tasty beyond belief and very filling. When you say to people you’re going for pancakes they normally pull a face and think of some sickly confection – not here ( althought the sweet pancakes are a delight) the flavours are mouth watering especially when accompanied with the house special salads and divine homemade French dressing that my children insist we bring a bottle home with us. The flambé sweet pancakes are just a joy. Be sure to sample the potent French beers and authentic ciders – best not to drive tho @ 7%abv
My 16 yr ild son always insists that we have his birthday meal here every year and this year without exception they did us proud serving 12 of us without hiccup and delay – fabulous service – if you go for the top end on the menu with drinks you’re probably looking at about £20 pp – so mid range – but quality and service definitely worth it – they do set menus too – oh and don’t forget to try the French onion soup you will have died and gone to heaven !!! Keep up the good work !! Xx

20 years on and still as good!

Have been coming for over 20 years. Lynette is a total credit and absolute the backbone of this place. Food still as good as always was, prices are fair reflection of what you are getting. Love this place, recommend to anyone and will keep visiting for the next 20 years!

Very Good Creperie

I visited this resturant last year and decided to take some friends back last night and what a nice suprise we had excellent food, good service and at a very reasonable price. This place is very good to give yourself or friends a different day or night out with something a little different, you will and they will be impressed.
This is one of those resturants i would recomend to anyone please go its worth the visit i promise.

Lovely place to get together with family

Went with friends to check out having crepes for main and pud, it was lovely, thought it may be too much. Good variety of both courses, and very reasonable offers of two or three course deals. Lovely service from the two ladies, and felt very comfortable and relaxed, will be returning.
